Miss Teen USA

Miss Teen USA, Katie Blair and my daughter Sophia at the Grand opening of the Portland Regional Sparrow Clubs office.
Katie and I enjoy the festivities. Our new office is sponsored by Providence Health Systems.
We are at Terra Linda elementary school with some of the students who have worked so hard to raise funds for their very own Sparrow. These kids were so excited to help a fellow student that their enthusiasm was contagious. The whole day was very heartwarming.

Children's Day

I had fun meeting and signing autographs for kids from Gresham, Oregon. Girls love trying on a "real" crown. This girl was so excited she said she felt like a real princess!
I signed over 250 autograph cards. I'm glad I stocked up! Being with children in any capacity is always wonderful for me. I have three kids of my own who are pretty proud that their mom is Mrs. Oregon.

I'm a boys Cub Scout Den Leader, but spending time with this Girl Scout Troop was really a nice change for me. Of course, they wanted me to switch to lead a Girl Scout Troop.

Sparrow Clubs

This is me with C.J., the Portland Regional Director for Sparrow Clubs, at an assembly at Sherwood High School to introduce a Sparrow and start fund raising. I am a Board member and Spokesperson for Sparrow Clubs. We match Sparrows, medically fragile children, with schools and sponsors to help provide much needed funding for the Sparrows and their families.
This is Emily at a her introduction to David Douglas High School. We raised enough money to buy her family a mini van to transport her to the hospital to treat her cancer. Her family had previously needed to take public transportation which took over an hour and a half each way. The Mrs. Oregon pageant will be raffling a Wii at our pageant on October 6th to raise more money for medical bills. With the Mayor of Portland and Tigard

This event was a wonderful fund raiser for high school music programs in the Portland area. I am pictured with the Mayor of Tigard, Prime Minister for the Portland Rose Festival and the Mayor of Portland.
Dave S. a local TV personality and I hosted a special VIP Cocktail party before the actual fund raiser. We raised thousands of dollars to support our Public School Music programs!

Sparrow Club USA

This is a photo with Sparrow Clubs USA Founder, Jeff Leeland, at a fund raiser. I've been working with Sparrow Clubs for 5 years since my sons friend was diagnosed with cancer and my Cub Scout den I helped raise over $100,000 for his medical care.
This is me with Kari V., former Miss OR Teen USA (and now Miss Oregon America!), and her mother Melody.
This is our current Miss Oregon Teen USA, Whitney W. I met Whitney when I was the emcee for the Miss Oregon USA and Miss Oregon Teen USA pageant last September. She helps promote and raise funds for Sparrow Clubs too!

I've known our current Miss Oregon USA and her family for years. She is beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. I am a former Miss Oregon USA, so it is fun to stay in touch with all the former title holders. At this event we had over 20 past titleholders supporting Sparrow Clubs!

Portland Lions Foundation Fund Raiser

I attended a Lions Foundation Club fund raiser to help low income residents of Oregon who have sight impairment. The first photo is with a long time friend Jeff Parker and Lions Club supporter. In the second photo I am pictured with the First Lady of the Rose Festival and the Portland Rose Soceity President. Lastly, the President and Vice President of the Oregon Lions Club pose for a quick photo.

Portland Rose Festival

The Portland Rose Festival is the biggest event in Oregon. This year we celebrated it's 100th year anniversary! The Mrs. Oregon America pageant has participated in the Starlight and Grand Floral Parades for the past 5 years. As tradition dictates, I carried the banner for Oregon's own famous, One More Time Around Again Band, consisting of over 600 members. Mrs. Rose City 2008, Barbara Burckhart-Christian carried the banner with me. We had a wonderful time.

Mrs. Neveda/California Pageant

I was very excited to attend the Mrs. NV/CA pageant. Mrs. Nevada is such a beautiful person inside and out! I was disappointed that I was unable to meet the new Mrs. CA. She was wisked away to sign contracts before I could say hello. I did sit beside her parents during the pageant and it was great to get caught up in their excitemnet as their daughter won Mrs. CA. It was also wonderful to meet former Mrs. America, Andrea Preuss, who was a judge that night. I enjoyed the pageant and seeing two title holders win at once.
